The President of the Senate of the Parliament of the Czech Republic, Milan Štěch, invited Czech and Canadian officials and business executives to a seminar entitled Canada – Czech Republic: New Business Opportunities. The event held at the Main Hall of the Senate building on 29 June 2016 was organised jointly by the Senate, the Czech Chamber of Commerce and the Embassy of Canada, in cooperation with the Ministries of Industry and Trade and Foreign Affairs and the Canadian Chamber of Commerce in the Czech Republic. It was a follow-up to a most successful visit by President Štěch to Canada where he was accompanied both by a senatorial delegation and by a business mission. The large turnout at the seminar demonstrated the great interest of Czech companies in the opportunities offered by Canada, especially in anticipation of the entry into force of the Canada-EU Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA).
